ARCHITECTURE → COPY
Gareth Ngwenya.
Most copywriters start with a brief. I started with a site plan.
I trained as an architect before I trained as a writer. That order matters — it means I write about your industry from inside it, not from a brief you had to explain.
From the drawing board to the page.
I came up through architecture, interior design, and environmental design — drafting floor plans, developing spatial concepts from material selection to furniture layout, building concept design reports, and producing the renders that get a project from sketch to sign-off. Years spent on real projects, with real planning constraints and real clients, taught me how the industry actually thinks and talks.
But the part of the work I kept gravitating toward wasn't the drafting — it was explaining it. Translating a concept design report into language a client could feel confident about. Writing the proposal that actually won the project, not just described it.
Copywriting let me combine both. Meridian exists because most copywriters don't understand planning approvals, project stages, sustainability certifications, or the difference between a concept design and a construction package — and most architectural technologists can't write a homepage that converts. I do both, which means less explaining, better communication, and copy that actually reflects how architects think.
Where the expertise comes from.
Built-Environment Training
Formal training in architecture and environmental design, including sustainable design projects spanning concept through construction documentation.
Interior Architecture
Honours-level training in Interior Architecture at Inscape Education Group — spatial design, materiality, FF&E, and concept development across residential, hospitality, and commercial typologies.
Working Architectural Technologist
Hands-on work across commercial, infrastructure and institutional projects — site planning, drawing sets, concept design reports, and Lumion visualisation.
Specialist Copywriter
Moved into writing — specifically for architecture and design firms, where knowing the project stage actually changes what you write.
Meridian
A studio built around one idea: firms that design buildings deserve a copywriter who already understands how buildings get made.
The people behind Meridian.
A small team with a precise set of skills — architecture, interior design, brand strategy, and marketing.
Gareth Ngwenya
An Architectural Technologist and Interior Architecture graduate with hands-on experience across commercial, retail, and large-scale infrastructure projects — including work with Attacq, MIB Infrastructure, and Pizza Hut. We understand the technical side of architecture — which means your copy is accurate from the first draft, not the fifth.
Vusimuzi Koetsi
A designer with a Distinction in Environmental Design from Inscape, Vusi works across 3D visualisation, interior design, and sustainability consulting. He currently practises at Nero Create and previously developed workspace concepts at JLL + Tetris Design & Build, one of the world's leading commercial real estate and workplace consultancies.
Rosemary Soluade
With experience across technology solutions and the healthcare sector, Rosemary handles how Meridian shows up in the market — who we reach, where we reach them, and what we say when we do.
Three things most copywriters can't offer.
Fluency
No two projects read the same. Neither does the copy we write for them.
Range
From a homepage rewrite to a Lumion render to a full concept design report — one point of contact, not three vendors.
Accuracy
Copy that won't misrepresent your project stage, your scope, or your sustainability claims — because we know what those words actually mean.
